Construction Site!

 There's a lot of building going on around the Killygarry junior infant classroom these days. Our play theme is "construction" and we have really enjoyed it. Here are some of the things we have been building.

Spring Art

 Spring is in the air and we have been making cherry blossom trees and a spring frieze in art.

Bye-bye butterfly

 After minding our butterflies in the classroom all week, we released them in the wild today. They must have liked us very much, as they didn't seem to want to fly away.

Hot school dinners

 We got our first ever hot meals at school today and nearly everyone seemed to enjoy them. The choices today were roast chicken, potatoes and veg; macaroni and cheese; meatballs and pasta; sausage, beans and cubed potatoes. The children ate with gusto and there was very little waste. Well done everyone. I hope you continue to enjoy the school meals. 

Spring walk

 It was a windy day today, but we put our coats on and went for a walk to look for signs of spring. We found buds, blossoms, daisies, dandelions, tulips and daffodils. We also observed crows flying to their nests with twigs and moss. We searched for lambs, but there were none out in the field today. Watch out for them in the fields beside our school and let us know if you see them so we can go back out.

The butterflies have emerged!

 When we came back into school this morning, three of our butterflies had come out of their chrysalis. We gave them sugar water and oranges to eat and they are slowly getting used to their new lives. We will release them outside in a couple of days.
